You are cordially invited to Adhunika’s Annual Fundraiser to celebrate its 22nd year anniversary on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the vibrant Art House Productions, Performing and Visual Arts Center in downtown Jersey City, New Jersey.

Join us for powerhouse performances by the esteemed and multitalented Gargi Mukherjee and Golam Sarwar Harun, who recently completed the off-Broadway run of, “Public Obscenities”, and the Moyna duo band of Palbasha and Durjoy Siddique, partnering with Sudipta Saha and Wasi Nayeem!!!

There will also be networking opportunities, you will hear from our donors, volunteers & much more! Refreshments will be served.

And performance by  the esteemed & multitalented Gargi Mukherjee and Golam Sarwar Harun – singer, actor, playwright, and director.

GARGI MUKHERJEE, has recently completed an off-Broadway run of, “Public Obscenities,” staged at the Soho Rep, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and the Theatre for a New Audience. Gargi won the Drama Desk Ensemble Award for Outstanding Performance and was nominated by Drama League for Distinguished Performance for her role in “Public Obscenities.” Lately, she has been working with Radical Evolution, a producing collective in an international theater exchange workshop with Jana Natya Manch from New Delhi. She has also been performing in Women on Fire: Stories from the Frontlines, written and directed by Chris Henry at Royal Family Productions in New York. She is seen on a regular basis at the South Asian Theater Festival as a member of Epic Actors’ Workshop, held every year at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center in New Brunswick. Gargi has also appeared in films, including, The Namesake, in which she had a featured role, and Karma Calling, in which she played one of the leads.

She has written/co-written and co-directed well-received plays like, Our Voices, Nirastra (Unarmed), Stories of Jackson Heights, I Shakuntala, and recently co-directed a Bangla adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Gargi also translated and adapted one of Rabindranath Tagore’s short stories and performed it as a monologue, Mrinal’s Letter at the United Solo International Theatre Festival in New York and acted in The Breast Chronicle, also a one-woman show, at the Crossroads Theatre/New York International Fringe Theatre Festival. Gargi has performed in prestigious theater venues like Soho Rep, NJPAC, NBPAC, the Edison Valley Playhouse, Jamaica Performing Arts Center, and Queens Theatre in the Park (NY).

Gargi is also an SVP, Creative Director at Havas Gemini, a healthcare communications company in New York and seems to traverse between theater, films, and advertising effortlessly.

GOLAM SAWRAR HARUN, is a singer, actor, playwright, and a director. He recently completed an off-Broadway run of, “Public Obscenities,” staged at the Soho Rep, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and the Theatre for a New Audience. Harun won the Drama Desk Ensemble Award for Outstanding Performance for his role in “Public Obscenities.” Lately, he has been working with Radical Evolution, a producing collective in an international theater exchange workshop with Jana Natya Manch from New Delhi.

Harun also directs films and television commercials. As an actor, he has played the lead in Three Penny Opera, Marat-Sade, and Mrichchakatikam, among others. He is the Artistic Director of Dhaka Drama, a theater group founded in Queens, New York, and has co-directed plays like I Shakuntala, No Man’s Land, Nirastra (Unarmed), and directed Dhaboman (The Run), among others. His works have featured in multiple South Asian Theatre Festivals over the years. Apart from the theatre world, Harun has acted in multiple films from Bangladesh, and most notably in Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist in the US.

Harun has been the recipient of theater grants from Queens Council on the Arts, as the artistic director of Dhaka Drama for his co-written play, Stories of Jackson Heights, which was a major success in the prestigious Queens Theatre. Harun also received the Citizens Committee for New York City grant for his collaborative venture, I Shakuntala.

MOYNA, the celebrated duo band of PALBASHA and DURJOY SIDDIQUE, is partnering with SUDIPTA SAHA and WASI NAYEEM to bring you music from the heart and entertainment that you’ll cherish for years to come!

Moyna started its journey back in 2017. Since then, the duo has released original Bangla music and performed numerous renditions of classics and modern music at different concerts and events. In live settings, the team loves to collaborate with like-minded artists and create magic on stage in real-time!

At this year’s concert, there will be two very special artists alongside Moyna.

On Bass, we’ll have WASI NAYEEM, a highly esteemed musician within the Bengali community in North America who strives earnestly to enhance his musical prowess. His ambition encompasses not only his personal growth but also the facilitation of knowledge dissemination in the realm of music. He has had the privilege of showcasing his talents on stage alongside numerous renowned Bangladeshi vocalists, as well as local artists.

SUDIPTA, a percussionist with a heart for rhythm, brings his love for music to life through drums, cajon, djembe, dhol, and dhak. He’s shared the stage with Moyna in multiple occasions and continues to groove with local and Bangladeshi musicians.

ABOUT ADHUNIKA FOUNDATION: Adhunika is a nonprofit charitable organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. It is a global, volunteer based organization dedicated to promoting technology usage for Bangladeshi women worldwide, in order to bring about positive social change in their lives, thus contributing to the advancement of gender equality in Bangladesh and the empowerment of Bangladeshi women. Adhunika Foundation was founded in March 2002 in New York, USA
