ABOUT US:

Adhunika is a global volunteer based organization, dedicated to promoting technology usage for the Bangladeshi women worldwide. Adhunika aims to bring about social change in the lives of women through the use of technology.

Adhunika provides the mechanism for voicing the common concerns that affect Bangladeshi women around the globe.  By fostering dialogue, and raising awareness and creating hope for the next generation of Bangladeshi women. Women from all walks of life are encouraged to contribute their work with us.  Our contributors are the driving force of the site.

 


 

MISSION OF ADHUNIKA:

Adhunika is a global volunteer organization, dedicated to promoting of technology usage for women of Bangladesh.

 

VISION OF ADHUNIKA:

Adhunika plans to evolve as a notable institution for providing information technology skills to the women of Bangladesh and thereby connecting them to a network of organizations. Adhunika aims  to establish exclusive partnership with various organizations - non-profit and for profit, and in the process develop much needed information technology (IT) and communication skills for women.


HISTORY:

The global volunteer organization Adhunika was founded in March 2002 in New York, USA. It started as an internet based network for women of Bangladesh. In August 2003, the organization launched it's first Information Technology training for women for free in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 2005, Adhunika Bangladesh Society was formed, and in May 2005, Adhunika Foundation was established to support on-going projects of Adhunika. The organization aims to bring about social change in the lives of Bangladeshi women through innovative usage of technology.


THE PURPOSE BEHIND THE PORTAL ADHUNIKA:

The following are a few interactive web channels that Adhunika has used to promote the web presence of Bangladeshi women:

  • Community: Publish work of women writers, researchers, poets, artists, film makers, health professionals, photographers, concerns, and more. Publish research work by women on women's issues (please note: abstracts are published depending on space availability)

  • Heroes Among Us: Publish short biographies and interviews of women

  • Our Future: Publish work of our future generation (age under 15)

  • BD (Bangladesh): Adhunika Bangladesh Society currently provides  the Information Technology for Women Project in Dhaka, Bangladesh: The Project provides information technology trainings, workshops and seminars for women, These workshops are free of charge for the under-privileged women. The Society also has undertaken research work related to women's issues.

  • Blog: An innovative and interactive approach of Adhunika to work with the women of Bangladesh.

  • Events: Announcements of Adhunika's IT for Women Project, and other related events

  • News: Links to major newspapers and magazines, occasional emphasis on findings effecting women

  • Links & Resources: Links and resources of social & developmental organizations for women and children (In progress)


HOW YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE:

You can share your stories, essays, poems, photographs, research work or any material  you wish to publish for adhunika readers.  Please note the site is updated quarterly (ie. January-March, April-June, July-September, October - December).
